Gina works as a radiologist at a large hospital. At a surprise birthday party for her father we meet the people most important in her life: her brother, his girlfriend, her boyfriend and her father, who works for the American Embassy. During the dinner party a mirror falls from the wall and smashes. As they all clean up the mess, Gina jokes about seven years’ bad luck, but the mention of the superstition hangs tensly in the air.

Sean Ellis started taking pictures when he was 11. Named as one of the best fashion photographers in the UK, his style has been described as cinematic. His award winning and Oscar nominated short film Cashback was incorporated into a feature-length version in 2005. The Brøken is his second feature.
