Shaking with fear, and fighting the urge to sleep, Yukie, a 15-year-old high-school student, begs Kyoichi Kagenuma, the Nightmare Detective, to help her. Thinking that he may be able to get a step closer to the mystery of his mother’s death, he enters Yukie’s nightmare, to confront the very natural of fear itself.

He was just 14 when he began filming with a 8 mm camera. After majoring in figurative arts at the Nihon University, he set up his own theatrical company. He achieved cult status with Tetsuo (1989), the story of a clerk who gradually metamorphoses into a pile of scrap metal. His work and unmistakable style have influenced Quentin Tarantino, Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher.
